Starting this July, an expanded baseline calculation methodology will come into effect, changing how balancing services are accounted for. This means more energy will be monetized, and revenues for BESS projects within internal networks will increase. ⚡

Until now, the existing model often led to situations where BESS had to compensate for the difference between actual and forecasted consumption, reducing real earnings.
As a result, part of the battery capacity remained “unaccounted” as flexibility service provision.

From July, the introduction of submetering will allow flexibility services to be measured through a dedicated meter installed alongside the BESS, separating it from overall consumption. 📊

In practice, this means no more “free” compensation of consumption fluctuations, more capacity directed to the market, and increased revenues for BESS projects.
