What matters more — the battery itself, or how it’s managed?
Two identical batteries can generate very different returns in BESS projects, depending on how they are managed.
Today, while market prices remain high, the greatest value is not created by the battery technology alone, but by efficient control, operation, and optimization. 🔋
However, over the next couple of years, the situation may change. As price volatility decreases, the technical parameters of the battery itself will become increasingly important.
At that point, key factors such as DoD, the number of guaranteed cycles and how they are defined, the warranty period, and EOL — the remaining capacity at the end of the warranty — will have a major impact.
RTE — round-trip efficiency — will also be essential, as it shows how much energy is actually recovered after a full charge-discharge cycle. 📈
